BWAFP Nomination Guidelines
BWAFP recognizes FMIG Student, Resident and Attending/Clinician achievement. The awards recognize students and physicians who consistently achieve high standards in the practice of medicine, in the teaching and learning of medicine, and for contributions in medical research. He/she is able to find innovative ways of delivering quality medical care despite the constraints of time, budget and personnel. These individuals are consistently looked upon as roles model by their peers and are valuable resources.
Award Categories:
1. “Outstanding Clinical Practice/Skills” (Attending category)
2. “Community Medicine ”.... Innovative contributions to delivering patient care.... (Attending, Resident & FMIG Student category)
3. “Contributions in Academic Medicine”: Teaching excellence (Attending & Resident category)
4. “Outstanding Leadership” (Attending, Resident & FMIG Medical category)
5. “Contributions to Research” (Attending category)
6. “Contributions to Field of Clinical Medicine”: (Attending & Resident category)
Criteria for Selecting Award Categories:
1. Clinical Practice/Skills (examples: advanced board certification; fellowship; research; additional relevant clinical training/skills, etc....)
2. Community Medicine: Innovative contributions to delivering patient care. (examples: developed new ways to educate patients and/or enhanced methods to improve access and quality of care; practice management, etc....)
3. Contributions to the Field of Clinical Medicine (examples: patient education; membership in medical societies; publications)
4. Contributions to the Field of Academic Medicine (examples: teaching medical students/residents; lectures and conferences ;)
5. Outstanding Leadership: (examples: leads with quality character, mentors junior and peer colleagues, easily establishes trust, inspirational, leads by example, etc...)
6. Research: (examples: initiative & accomplishment in research; established research programs or approaches that enhance healthcare delivery; publications; Scientific lectures and presentations; Leadership in research, etc…)
Awards Selection Process:
1. The awards committee will consider all nominations that are received by date posted on website.
2. If more than one person is nominated for a category, the BWAFP Chapter Board will request additional information from nominees, ie: updated C.V., for review with the nomination statement. After review, the board will select the final candidate based on strength of nomination, accomplishments and merit.
