Course Directors: Sudhir Vaidya MD Elizabeth Natal MD

Audience: Family Physicians, Residents and Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) Medical Students

Needs Assessment:

Family Physicians need to know

1. The information regarding recent advances in Alzheimer’s disease research and diagnoses and management principles.

2. The role of neuropsychologist in the management of dementias.

3. The role of social worker to co-ordinate the care for dementia patients and their caregivers

Objectives:

Upon Completion of this program the participants should be able to:

  1. Apply current knowledge in diagnosing and treating Alzheimer’s patients.
  2. Integrating the dementia services in their offices.
  3. Advise dementia patients and their caregiver’s about the resources available in the community for better care

This program has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 1 CME credit hour by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
