The BWAFP awards will honor residents and physicians for Achievement,
Recognition and Leadership Activities : The awards will recognize a physicians
who consistently achieves high standards in the practice of medicine, in the
teaching of medicine, and for contributions in medical research. He/she is able
to find innovative ways of delivering quality medical care despite the
constraints of budget and personnel. This individual is consistently looked
upon as a role model by his/her peers and is a valuable resource person.
There are five evaluation criteria for the awards:
1. Clinical skills (examples: board certification; fellowship; research;
additional relevant clinical training/skills)
2. Innovative contributions to delivering patient care (examples: developed new
ways to educate patients; used home visits to improve access and quality of
care; practice management)
3.Contributions to the field of clinical medicine (examples: patient education;
membership in medical societies; publications; )
4. Contributions to the field of academic medicine (examples: teaching medical
students/residents; lectures and conferences;)
5. Leadership (examples: supervise staff/team; Department Chair/Head; Clinic
Director) How to nominate:
1. The awards committee will consider all nominations that
are received by 19 March 2007.
2. Submit nominations by email .
3. Each nomination should include a brief narrative
explaining how the physician meets the award criteria, the nominee's title,
Institution and Department and/or location of practice and office.
4. The nominee's current curriculum vitae should also be
included.
5. A brief, one sentence statement as to the reason this
nominee deserves this award should be included.
6. Nomination packages should include the name, email and
phone number of the person submitting the nomination.
